Finally back to business after a long hiatus, ready to talk comics once again. I mean, how could I not talk about comics? Hell, I’ve been in love with the media since I was 10 years old or younger. I can remember begging my step dad to drive me and my friends to ACME COMICS when it was in the corner spot of washington and elm street (greensboro nc), in what is now known as the idiot box comedy club. Well… anyway, enough reminiscing… Bring on the comics!!!!!!!
AVX 1-12 (MARVEL)
Anyone who has read an X-Men comic in the last twenty odd years, knows what the PHOENIX is… A super powerful force from space that has laid waste to hundreds of thousands of alien races throughout the galaxies, which was formerly inhabited within Jean Grey, aka MARVEL GIRL, AND LATER BECAME THE DARK PHOENIX, a side of Jean that let out an unchecked, murderous version of the Phoenix, which also led to jean telepathically commiting suicide on an alien planet, in order to stop the Phoenix’s rampage. That was then. This is now. The phoenix has returned, and the mighty AVENGERS see its arrival as a doomsday clock for earth that is running out. The X-MEN however, see it as an opportunity to save mutantkind’s dwindling population. Not to spoil the whole thing (issue #11 just came out), but the Phoenix was split between five worthy mutants- Namor, the first existing mutant in Marvel history, Colossus and his sister Illyana Rasputin as well as the White Queen and Cyclops. As each one is defeated, the rest gain that much more of the Phoenix force. The whole story should be collected in trade paperback format if you have missed this storyline and would like to read the whole thing…
